In the early 1900s the family patriarch, Carl John Kingston, packed up his belongings and made the months-long journey from Central Mine, Michigan to Chile in search of copper and gold. In 1906, Carl John joined the Cerro de Pasco Mining Company as an engineer and traveled throughout South America scouting for his mother lode. Tobiano is a blend of different parcels within the Kingston vineyard and has been featured by the glass at respected restaurants such as Jean Georges in New York and the Four Seasons in London.
Light to medium garnet in the glass, this wine smells of peeled willow bark, crushed herbs, and raspberries. In the mouth, beautifully fresh flavors of raspberry and green herbs are bright with juicy acidity and silky in their texture. Finely grained tannins dance around the edges of the mouth, and a sweet perfume lingers in the finish.
