Lying to the north of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, the Côte de Nuits is known around the world for producing the best Pinot Noir. Like its southern sitting neighbor, the Côte de Nuits is a narrow plot of land, however, its terroir is very diverse. These two districts make up the larger Côte d’Or region. The Côte de Nuits is predominantly planted to Pinot Noir ( about 95% ), however, small amounts of white wines are also produced here from Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc.

This tiny district encompasses the most famous Grand Cru villages and vineyards in Burgundy, including the Bonnes Mares, Le Chambertin, Chambertin, Clos de la Roche, Clos de Vougeot, Grands Echézeaux, Le Musigny, Richebourg, Romanée Conti and Lâ Tache. These are the finest Pinot Noirs in the world, they are praised for their firm structure and complexity.
