Clos des Papes is located in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, in the Rhône Valley. The family estate was created by Paul Avril and has been managed by his son Paul-Vincent Avril since 2009.

The vineyard consists of 24 small plots spread over 32 hectares. The 13 varietals authorized for the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation are cultivated in this vineyard, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah are in the majority. The estate is certified in organic farming.

Blend : 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah et 5% divers
Shimmering violet. Pungent aromas of red and blue fruit preserves, potpourri and smoky minerals, along with a spicy nuance that builds as the wine opens up.
Youthfully chewy and deeply concentrated, displaying sappy black raspberry, bitter cherry and boysenberry flavors and suggestions of candied lavender and licorice.
Shows impressive finesse for its depth and finishes extremely long and precise, with building tannins that meld smoothly with the wine's densely packed fruit.
