Baron de L Pouilly Fume is de Ladoucette's Grande Cuvee and is considered by many to be, quite simply, the best Pouilly Fume the Loire has to offer. The vineyards of de Ladoucette are the largest and the most famous vineyards of Pouilly Fume and they have been owned by the Comte Lafond and de Ladoucette families since 1787 when Comte Lafond purchased the estate from the illegitimate daughter of the French king, Louis XV. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are harvested by hand, so they are in optimum condition and fresh when they reach the winery at Chateau du Nozet which is no more than 6 minutes any of the above vineyards. Baron de L is made from only free-run juice, whereby only the juice released by the grapes' weight is used.

Pale gold in color with green tints. The nose is delicate with ripe fruit such as pear and white peach. It also has complex notes of beeswax, vanilla and flint.

The mouth has a fresh fruity beginning, is fleshy and robust, and has a good structure. It is balanced between a fruity roundness and mineral firmness. A very long finish.
